“There are eyes half defiant, half meek and compliant: Black eyes, with a wondrous, witching charm to bring us good or to work with harm.” -Phoebe CaryThe Black Eyed Children could possibly much be real because of the many accounts of reports, little knowledge of the paranormal, and how they became one of the most famous horror theories of all time. From our very little understanding of what the unknown is, can show to prove there is more out there than just humans. There has been numerous accounts of kids with solid black eyes that have terrorized people’s lives worldwide. The Black Eyed Children steadily rose to fame across conspiracy theorists when stories, movies, and books started to come out to tell these horrifying children of the night.Origins of how Black Eyed Children came to be are still unknown, just like extraterrestrial life, they are in the category of the paranormal or supernatural beings. The danger that have been reported to tie into what happens if they are let in your house or vehicle, is unknown. Black-eyed children are an urban legend of supposed paranormal creatures that resemble children, who are reportedly seen hitchhiking or panhandling, or are sometimes encountered on doorsteps of homes. These creatures are often described as young people, often children, with eyes that are solid black and reportedly have bluish tinted skin like that of a corpse, hence why they are called “The Black Eyed Children”. The most frequently reported accounts seem to occur at people’s home with a knock at the door, and always need some kind of gesture from the owner. They often want to be let into your house or your vehicle. Normally near abandoned or deserted areas, reports talk of them popping up at one’s doorstep – typically alone or in a pair. They often use peculiarity and speech methods of an adult, they occasionally even possess the voice of an adult to attract their victim. Once confronted by one of the BEKs (The Black Eyed Kids), the victim then feels a sense of overwhelming fear before realizing that there’s something drastically wrong with the children’s eyes. It is reported that the BEKs put their victim into a trance to let them inside their house, that’s where it gets dangerous. The children ask the adult to use their bathroom or phone without any knowledge of knowing they’re doing so. What happens after that hasn’t been reported. With the background of what these “kids” do, there are multiple reports of encounters of facing these children. As the first reason being as the reports and stories of encountering a BEK, whether they’re outside your door, or in a dark field. The reports and videos caught of BEKs are still yet to be proven. The first official report of an encounter was in the 1960s when 16 year-old Harold was walking back home the long way when he was approached by a little boy in front of his house. As he was trying to make small talk with the boy, and getting no response at all from him, he finally says, “I wanna go in your house. Take me to your house.” That’s when our protagonist knew something was definitely wrong as he saw the eyes of the boy, stunned and terrified, the boy looks at him and tells him, “Now, don’t you run away from me. You’re gonna walk me to your house.” Harold ran inside, slammed the door, quickly told his parents. His father, who was greatly concerned, quickly grabbed the shotgun and ran outside only to find no one there. The supposed origins of the legend are some 1996 postings written by Texas reporter, Brian Bethel, on a “ghost-related mailing list” relating two alleged encounters with “black-eyed kids.” Bethel describes encountering two such children in Abilene, Texas in 1996. Another encounter was a video of a local resident using a drone taking a video for aerial shots of the land. All seems normal until in the video a figure is standing with hair draped over their face watching the drone recording it. The video has yet to be debunked or to be proven real. Last concrete evidence was on the news during a motorcycle in the middle of the road. You can see a corn field behind the reporter and motorcycle crash. As the news is being played, a fellow viewer pointed out something moving behind in the corn fields. Two pairs of kids in all black with pale-white face can be clearly seen popping out their heads watching the horror unfold right before their very eyes. With video proof and written accounts, BEKs aren’t the only thing catching the reader’s eye, it’s the new movies and books they’ve started making about them. The popularity of Black Eyed Children stories have soon rose to fame as they are now the new topic of horror genres. To base these real encounters, writers and producers have fabricated the idea of BEKs to scare the new generation of paranormal topics. In 2012, the horror film Black Eyed Kids was produced with Kickstarter funding, its director commenting that the black eyed children were “an urban legend that’s been floating around on the Internet for years now, I always thought it was fascinating.” A 2013 episode of MSN’s Weekly Strange that featured reports of black eyed children is thought to have helped the spread the legend on the internet. Alleged sightings are taken seriously by investigators of the supernatural, some of whom believe black eyed children to be extraterrestrials, vampires, or ghosts. With the popular demand for more horror movies and stories, the BEK stories have been catching the eyes of many. With many books like “Black Eyed Children” by David Weatherly, still being sold everywhere. The movie “Black Eyed Children: Let Me In” is a film made in 2015 was successful with the origin background. Now, they’re making comic and action books, with more that have already been made and new that are in the making that will come out mid 2018. The Black Eyed Children could be real because of the evidence, the encounters, and the popularity of stories that have been spread worldwide with similar accounts. There’s no doubt in my mind these terrifying creatures are real, regardless of my opinion, until we have live undeniable proof , this conspiracy theory remains unsolved.
