The definition of integrity according to Webster Dictionary is, ” the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles; moral uprightness.” There are though many ways to look at a person’s integrity. A person with integrity possesses many qualities. Three of these qualities are honesty, the ability to follow a moral code, and loyalty to yourself and your beliefs. Integrity means following your moral or ethical convictions and doing the right thing in all circumstances, even if no one is watching you. Having integrity means you are true to yourself and would do nothing that demeans or dishonors you. I show integrity by staying focused on my goals that I have for my life instead of partaking on distractions that come my way. Having integrity is important when succeeding through a goal because you must first have trust. Trust will start you off on the path of you believing you can or can’t achieve your goal. Also, when working together to complete a goal you must act with integrity because my grandma always told me “One bad apple spoils the bunch. Be strong for what you believe in. If you don’t have integrity to speak you mind, what will you be able to speak on? ” The definition of Self-Determination is human motivation and personality that concerns people’s inherent growth tendencies. I believe that if you want to succeed at achieving your goals you must have self-determination. Without it, when you have a problem or something that keeps you down, you may stop and never move beyond that point. Other individuals have the ability to encourage, persuade you to give it your best, however at the end of it all you should be the one to have the confidence, drive and devotion to continue onward and to keep fighting for your goals. Many people throughout my life have impacted me to stay determined and remain on the right way to finish my goals. I have always been surrounded by solid, and strong people. My mother is a very determined person. Just yesterday, she texted my sister and me. She stated, “Never cease praying. When it seems that God is not listening to our prayers, don’t stop praying.” I was very determined when I worked on the science fair this year. I completed my project all by myself. I was the first child to do my project solo. I not only won at the school and district level, but I won $100 at the City Science Fair. I have learned that being determines pays off. The definition of accountability is the fact or condition of being accountable; responsibility. Accountability helps your performance overall. Accountability helps you measure your success and progress by kind of telling you your pros and cons. Accountability keeps you engaged throughout all actions that are taken. There are things that will come up that will distract you from your goals and take you off course. Even when you’re bored, distracted or tired, knowing that you have to answer for your progress will keep you going to the finish line. Once my teacher told my mom that I was talking too much in class. I could have deflected the attention to the fact that a lot of other students are talking more and being very disrespectful to her. Instead of doing that, I held myself accountable. I admitted to talking and went on to correct my behavior. Accountability will keep you responsible from all the distractions and everything else. When you finally realize that you are ultimately responsible for how much progress you make every day that’s you taking responsibility. When you take accountability through all of these key points you can achieve your goal.
