Benzothiazole moiety is an important component of heterocyclic compounds. These compounds possess diverse biological activity such as antimicrobial, antitubercular, antitumor, antimalarial, anticonvulsant, anthelmintic, analgesic and anti-inflammatory activity. They are widely found in the field of bioorganic and medicinal chemistry with application in new drug development.4The study of privileged structures in drug discovery is a rapidly emerging in medicinal chemistry. These structures represent a class of molecules capable of binding to multiple receptors with high affinity. The exploitation of these molecules enables the medicinal chemist to rapidly discover biologically active compounds across a wide range of therapeutic areas on a reasonable timescale.
