Her surname was Sten then translated into the English name. Emma got her English name when grandfather immigrated from Sweden to the U.S., through Ellis Island. Jeffrey and Krista Stone are her parents and Spencer Stone is her only sibiling. Krista Stone is a homemaker and Jeff Stone is a CEO of a contracting company. Emma talks about what the green monster represents, “I wrote this book called ‘ I Am Bigger Than My Anxiety’ that I still have: I drew a little green monster on my shoulder that speaks to me in my ear and tells me all these things that aren’t true,” she said. “And every time I listen to it, it grows bigger. When she entered sixth grade she attended Cocopah Middle School. Emma struggled from panic attacks which had a negative impact on her social skills. To help get rid of the attacks she performed in the Valley Youth Theatre at age 11 and joined an improvised comedy group. Emma’s first production was The Wind In The Willows. She performed in 16 other productions. The more productions Emma acted in the more she loved performing. After middle school Emma attended Xavier College Preparatory School, it was an all-girl Catholic School. Emma only attended Xavier Preparatory for one semester. Emma was really passionate and inspired by acting so much she wanted to dropout of school at 15 and move to Los Angeles, California. The problem was that she would have to convince her parents to move there to start her career. In order to do this she created a presentation titled  Project Hollywood played with Madonna’s song Hollywood and in it, it talked about how she would move, how she would be homeschooled, and how she would audition for movies. Emma’s parents saw how much she deeply desired to take acting as a career. When they saw her put a lot of effort into planning where she would go and how she would graduate, they both decided that they would move to Los Angeles. When Emma and Krista both moved to California, Emma started auditioning. In between auditioning she worked at a local dog treat bakery. When she would try out for a role many people liked her for her raspy singing voice. The problem was Emma wanted to be taken seriously. In order to be taken seriously she decided to dye her hair to an auburn color and has kept it ever since. In 2004, after dying her hair Emma auditioned to play the part of Laurie Partridge in reality TV show VH1. She was placed in the final round and she had to sing a solo in order to win the role. Emma performed in Crazy, Stupid, Love right after filming The Help. She also appeared on Malcolm in the Middle, NBC’s Medium and played 17- year-old Violet Trimble on FOX drama Drive in 2007 which only lasted only one season. After the show Drive, Emma auditioned for a part on the science-fiction hit show Heroes but did not  get the part losing to the actress Hayden Panettiere. Emma received many awards for her performances. After performing Easy A as Olive Penderghast, Emma’s witty and beautiful performance had got her a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress. One of her best movies was Battle of the Sexes, she played Billy Jean King, an athletic tennis player playing against a former men’s champion Bobby Riggs. Emma and her co-star both Golden Globe nominations for their roles in this film. She also received Best Actress in Comedy.  In 2011, Emma received award for Best Ensemble in The Help.
