At of IoT, VR and AR, Machine

At Edo, we’re amazed at the technology we have available to us and at the pace it’s arriving. It’s astounding to have the power to be an input away from accessing  information and communicating in a thousand different ways using what we would now refer to as a device agnostic digital interface. There’s always something new on the horizon that braves itself to question the establishment and I can’t help but wait and wonder what technological marvels are coming next and how that will shape up our digital portfolios.2017 saw the proliferation of IoT, VR and AR, Machine Learning, Automation, Big Data and Everything in demand. But what’s mostly taken the headlines has been without a doubt the Crypto currencies, slightly clouding the revolutionary technology that is Blockchain which is set to overhaul how we transact.  This unprecedented growth has pushed governments and governing bodies into complicated positions and they are being pressured to act. Will 2018 be the year that sees Crypto on the high street? Huge global financial companies are adopting the technology, so this could well be within reach. What can be expected in 2018?2018 will see the Uber for everything movement proliferate, also referenced to as On-demand apps.Uber and Deliveroo have lead the way to set the new standard, it’s an inherent expectation in today’s demanding digital users that everything needs to be available, right now. Takeaways, parking, haircuts, cleaners … think of a service and someone is most likely working on a handy tech solution that will meet the needs of an increasing tech savvy user base with well defined expectations. Quickly looking at demographics, Millennials constitute 49% of on-demand consumers in the market that in the US alone spent $57.6 billion in the on-demand category. It’s clear that this represents huge opportunity and businesses need to adjust to a new reality to keep up.In 2018 AI will seek to gain our trust as digital systems take on more and more of our tasks, they will understand more about us and our habits. This will enable better predictive algorithms to cater to our needs, which could be used by retailers, entertainment services and even accountants. The end of the smartphone?A bold prediction, right? It’s not as far fetched as it sounds. Smartphones traditionally describes a device that allows you stay connected in ways other than the traditional voice call. That is evolving in the sight of artificial intelligence and machine learning. They may still be called smartphones but it’s probably more appropriate to call them intelligent phones in 2018 and beyond as digital assistants will become much more useful because they will be able to anticipate our needs before we ask.As timely as we believe these predictions to be, the pace of disruption is unpredictable, there’s always room for the future to unfold unpredictably. In this era of endless innovation, the only prediction is that you can be 100% assured that the future will look very different from today. At Edo we believe that technology is the fundamental backbone to sustain innovation and help businesses stay on top of an ever increasing pace of landscape changes.
